She spent 25 of those years teaching in the elementary setting as a kindergarten, first grade, and Pre K teacher. She holds a BS degree from Western Carolina University, a masters degree from Appalachian State University, and is a National Board Certified teacher with a focus in Early Childhood.

Ms. Caldwell has been a resident of Burke County all of her life. She lives in Drexel with her son Ryan and a chihuahua named Talley.

Ms. Caldwell loves to go camping and enjoys relaxing while reading a good book.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.  My name is Nikki Costello, and I am excited to join the Hillcrest family as your assistant principal this year.  I am a Burke County native. I graduated from UNC-Asheville and Wake Forest University, and I am beginning my twenty-second year in education.  I have taught middle and high school mathematics and have spent the last five years as an instructional coach.  I am married and have two sons, a rising eighth grader at Liberty and a rising fourth grader at Salem.  I enjoy spending time with my family (lots of sporting events), as well as kayaking.

I look forward to meeting each of you in the upcoming days. Together we will make the 2017-2018 school year a tremendous success for the students of Hillcrest Elementary School.  Go Cougars!
